Who We Are

Building New Lives Inc. is a 501(c)(3) faith-based organization committed to reaching beyond the walls of the church to serve and strengthen the community in which we live. Located in Cumberland County, we recognize that many neighborhoods in our area remain economically and socially  under-developed, with residents facing the challenges of multi-generational poverty.
Our purpose is to develop and  implement programs that foster  economic growth, affordable housing,  job training, childcare, educational support, recreational services, and  overall community stability.
Building New Lives Inc. operates under the  leadership of Shiloh Baptist Church, a congregation with more than 109 years of community involvement from the pulpit to the streets dedicated to transforming lives through service and compassion.

Proverbs 22:6;

“Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it”

Our Program & Services help strengthen the communities of Cumberland County as we strive to accomplish our mission.

Rutger Reading Program

The Rutger Reading Program is an educational and cultural initiative designed to provide meaningful reading opportunities for children in communities where few options exist. The program strengthens both parental and community involvement while fostering a supportive learning environment.
We serve children ages 7 to 17 through an eight-week program that integrates reading, conflict resolution, mentoring, and social action into an engaging, activity-based curriculum. Our goal is to promote social, cultural, and historical awareness while encouraging positive personal growth.
