REV. DR. JAMES A. DUNKINS
Senior Pastor/Teacher, Shiloh Baptist Church

Dr. Dunkins is the Senior Pastor of Shiloh Baptist Church, One Family, Two Locations (Port Norris and Vineland, NJ). He has been the Senior Pastor of Shiloh since May 1987. As a result of his pastoring, teaching and implementation of new ministries, the church has grown spiritually, financially numerically and is a blessing to the South Jersey area.
Dr. Dunkins is a graduate of the Bridgeton High school Class of 1973. During high school, he played varsity sports. He ran track and played basketball. Dr. Dunkins is a life-long learner with a varied educational background and after finishing his Associate’s Degree in Social Work from Cumberland County College, he continued his educational pursuits.  He attended Glassboro State College where he received additional educational training and worked as a teacher, Supervisor, Child Study Team Social worker. He received a BA in Social Work from Stockton State College, Philadelphia College of Bible, Bible certificate Program, a Master of Education Degree from Philadelphia College of Bible (PCB), a Master of Educational Leadership Degree from Philadelphia Biblical University, and a Doctor of Ministry in Missions & Contextual Leadership from Palmer Theological Seminary at Eastern University.  He holds educational certifications in the following areas:  Special Education teacher, Child Study Team Social Worker, Curriculum Supervisor, Principal and School Administrator.

Dr. Dunkins was bi-vocational and retired from the Bridgeton Board of Education as the Human Resource Administrator in 2011. He has also served as an elected official serving one-term as a Cumberland County Freeholder. Dr. Dunkins presently serves as the President of the Bethany Baptist School of Ordination and as the General Secretary for the General Baptist State Convention of New Jersey. He also serves as a Trustee on the Board of the newly formed Rowan College of South Jersey. Dr. Dunkins recently became an Adjunct Professor at Missio Seminary in Philadelphia, PA.

Pastor Dunkins has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout the State of New Jersey.

Dr. Dunkins continues to expand the vision of Shiloh Baptist to make sure it embraces the changes in our culture that will keep our evangelistic efforts relevant.  Shiloh serves the communities of Commercial Township and Vineland through the Building Better Lives Community Development Corporation (C.D.C.).

Dr. Dunkins works with a group of pastors, The Collaboration of South Jersey Churches, to host and coordinate two annual conferences, the Church Development Conference for Leaders and the Teachers & Preachers Conference on Homiletics and Apologetics. He is also a noted conference speaker, with a specialty on men, relationships and Missional Outreach.  Dr. Dunkins has also written five books.

Dr. Dunkins is married to the former Marsha Morris. They have four children: Erica Yvette, Justin Allen, Jennifer Denise and Brittney Michelle. They also have seven grandchildren.
